Limited website analytics

Our approach covers public pages on ripleynet.net, cybernut.org, and jamesripley.me. Each website has separate reports. We record approved page names, broad referral categories, and selected contact or organization-link clicks.

The analytics service processes your network address and browser information to produce activity estimates. It does not retain the raw IP address as an analytics field. Our website analytics uses no tracking cookies or persistent browser identifiers, and does not connect your identity across these sites.

We do not send page query strings, fragments, full referring URLs, email contents, or form entries to analytics. Session recordings and heatmaps are disabled. Email-link clicks tell us a link was chosen, not what you wrote or whether you sent a message.

Approximate location on RipleyNet

To understand regional reach, RipleyNet may estimate and record a visitor's country, state or region, and city from their network address. These are estimated network locations, not verified home or business locations. VPNs, mobile networks, and internet providers can make them inaccurate or unavailable. They do not identify a household, and earlier visits are not backfilled.

Lookup happens on our analytics server using GeoLite Data created by MaxMind. Visitor addresses are not sent to MaxMind. We do not request device GPS access or store postal codes or coordinates in visitor analytics. Geography remains disabled on cybernut.org and jamesripley.me.

Your browser preferences

Website analytics is suppressed when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. You can also block the collector at collect.cybernut.org. Pages and links continue to work if analytics is blocked or unavailable.

Access and retention

RipleyNet operates Cybernut Analytics using self-hosted Umami. Reports require named accounts, assigned permissions, and two-factor authentication. Customer teams do not receive access to these organization-site reports.

Raw analytics records have a 90-day retention window, enforced by daily cleanup. Encrypted recovery copies have a separate, approximately two-week expiry cycle; cloud deletion processing can take additional time. Recovery reapplies the raw-data retention limit before reports are made available.
